Old Provencal butter dish

Antique butter mold from the early 1900s from Provence, typical of French country tradition, large - 28 cm - and in good condition, old woodworms but already woodworm-proof, complete with hinges and hook that allow it to be opened to easily remove the block of butter once cooled. As was often the case, designs are engraved on the bottom - in this specific case flowers - so that the block of butter would come out with the stamped decoration. The knurled edges made it easier to separate the butter from the wood. These are rare objects, typical of country tradition. It lends itself to being displayed or revisited in many ways; for example on the breakfast table of a charming home as a bowl for bread or biscuits.
