Religious frame late 19th century brass

ancient precious #sacred #frame #in #chiseled #brass; with in the center #ancient #miniature #of #Christ protected by glass. The outline work is minute and complex and at first glance it seems to be simply for aesthetic purposes, while on closer inspection it reveals all the #Christiansymbolism: the #Jacob's #ladder that connects Heaven and Earth, the brambles that seem to surround the face of Christ recalling the #crownofthorns from which, at the top right, a #rose blooms - symbol of rebirth and of the Virgin. Also present are the spears that recall the wound in the side. On the back the frame can be opened and has its #pedestal in #artnouveau style. The era is in fact between the #nineteenth and #twentieth centuries. Height 22 cm.
