Antique vaginal irrigator
As for #curiousobjects, tonight we really outdo ourselves 😅 and for the #whatisit series we propose this #ancient #vagina irrigator from the #latenineteenth century! Yes, you read that right. I love #ancient #medicalinstruments because they offer us the opportunity to retrace the #historyofmedicine and they are often #museumpieces. This model consists of a cylindrical brass tank in which a piston moves, operated by the loading key on top. Excellent condition.
At the base of the device was a tap to attach a cannula for insertion into the vagina. On the body of the device a brass stamp reads: "Doctor Eguisier's irrigation system, registered trademark SGDG: Paris". In 1855 the manufacturing company participated in the Universal Exhibition.
