Painted Paten

From the profane to the #sacred ... we are still in the early #900 with this #ancient #paten: what is it? It is the technical name of the #liturgical #plate used to display the #hosts and cover the #chalice during the #holymass. This #ancient #paten is covered with #hand-painted fabric with the #ihs symbol (Latin transcription of the Greek name of Jesus) and edged with gold embroidery. Dimensions 17 x 17 cm.
