Dutch salt or spice jar

In Holland, spices were stored in wood and not in glass, for reasons of maintaining flavors. The same goes for coarse salt; for which there were wooden containers with a special spoon and a sliding lid, like this beautiful old example, complete with its spoon. Ideal for the same use; but above all for serving fine salt or other chopped spices in an original way and absolutely respectful of a textbook country chic table.
