Wooden statue of Columbus

Beautiful piece for a cabinet des curiosites collection, the wooden sculpture of this dove that rests on a wooden pedestal in the pose, plastically well rendered, classic that these birds assume. The dove's legs are made of iron, very carefully represented, see detail in photo. The dove is a bird often chosen for late nineteenth-century sculptures or, as in this case, from the first half of the twentieth century: let us remember that it is an animal that was very important when it was used to carry letters.
