Antique Richard Stereoscope
Nice piece of #historyofphotography today with this #ancient #stereoscope #richard from the #early20th century ... how did it work? It allowed you to see #three-dimensional #images !!! Developed for the first time in 1832 by Sir Charles Wheatstone using pairs of similar drawings and subsequently the nascent photography, the mirror stereoscope then evolved into the simpler, lighter and more practical lens stereoscope by Sir David Brewster. Throughout the 19th century the stereoscope was used for viewing #stereograms on paper or glass. ... The wheel was arranged so that it turns correctly for adjusting the lenses. Plus: 5 #ancient #photographic #plates with #views on glass, #daguerreotypes in 3d from the #early20th century very rare and historically interesting.
