Bakelite PTT telephone for switchboard
This black Bakelite telephone produced by PTT is a very unusual model, because as you can see it has no buttons or dials where you can dial the number. This is because it is used exclusively to connect to the switchboard; where probably a kind lady would have asked you who you wanted to contact. The switchboard is called by rotating the silver lever that you can see on the front. It is complete with its ringtone (not tested) and shows the serial number and the year of production: 1962. Its more than sixty years wears them admirably; the only defect in the photo is a small piece of Bakelite missing from one of the earphone ends. An austere and elegant piece of furniture perfect for a hall or for your professional studio.
